Earth Day 2023
As we celebrate Earth Day 2023, we are proud to reflect on the positive impact we’ve made through our solar installations over the past year. Cedar Creek Energy is committed to sustainable and renewable energy resources that benefit our planet’s longevity, and together with our clients, we’ve been able to make a significant difference by installing solar panels throughout Minnesota.
How Does Solar Make an Impact?
When we burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas for energy, we release large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere and contributes to global warming. This leads to rising temperatures, changing weather patterns, and other impacts on the environment, including rising sea levels, more frequent and severe storms, and damage to ecosystems and wildlife habitats.
Solar energy is a renewable and clean energy source that can replace fossil fuels, is an unlimited and renewable natural resource, and does not produce harmful emissions. This means that by using solar energy, we can reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources and reduce our carbon footprint and restore the health of our planet.
What We’ve Accomplished Together
Since Earth Day 2022, we installed solar projects for our clients that total 5,930 DC kWh, producing an estimated 7.4 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually. This clean energy powers Minnesota homes, farms, small businesses, retail stores and restaurants, manufacturing plants, warehouses, government facilities, fire departments, recycling and waste management centers, and much more! All of this clean energy replaced fossil fuels and prevented over 11.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
Let’s have some fun with that number!
11.5 million pounds of CO2 emissions is about the equivalent of CO2 emissions from almost 600,000 gallons of gasoline. That is about the same amount of gasoline the Saturn V rocket used when it took the first humans to the moon!
It’s also the rough equivalent of 241,343 propane cylinders used for home BBQs.
Assuming one tank of propane will last 18-20 hours, and the average griller uses 1-2 pounds of fuel per meal, that’s about enough fuel to power 4.3 million afternoon BBQs. There are about 2.5 million homes in Minnesota – so that means every household in the state could grill a meal every single day for almost two years. Incredible!
How about trees? Did you know that in one year, the average mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange? Trees play an important role in preventing climate change by not only absorbing carbon dioxide, but in regulating the water cycle, providing a habitat for a range of wildlife, and in urban areas, reducing stormwater runoff, air pollution, and heat effects. It would take almost 240,000 trees an entire year to absorb 11.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide!
These are impressive numbers that demonstrate the real impact of renewable energy. By shifting to clean energy sources like solar, we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and decrease our carbon footprint.
Thank You For Your Support
As we celebrate Earth Day, we’re reminded that every action we take, no matter how small, has the power to help support our planet and change things for the better. From picking up trash while walking to switching to reusable bags, every effort counts. Installing solar panels in your home or business is an investment that pays off not only for the environment but also for your financial future.
We are committed to continuing to provide our clients with sustainable and renewable energy solutions, and we look forward to making an even greater impact in the years to come. We are incredibly proud of the positive impact we’ve made and grateful to all our clients who have partnered with us to make a difference. Each solar installation we’ve completed brings us one step closer to a more sustainable future for all.
Thank you for choosing Cedar Creek Energy as your Minnesota solar installer and partner in positive change. Happy Earth Day!
